The two nations recently extended their bilateral agreement on cooperation in green maritime technology and shipbuilding. This renewal took place during a meeting in Beijing between China's Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Le Cheng and Denmark's Minister of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs Morten Bødskov.
During the meeting, both sides discussed advancing cooperation in green shipbuilding and green maritime technology. They also renewed the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation for the development of green maritime technology and the shipbuilding industry between their respective ministries. China and Denmark emphasized that their maritime cooperation is founded on mutual trust, shared interests, and complementary strengths, with a common goal of enhancing maritime safety and reducing the climate and environmental impact of shipping activities.
Li Cheng noted that China and Denmark possess significant complementary strengths in shipbuilding and maritime technology. China is prepared to strengthen strategic coordination and policy alignment with Denmark, jointly develop technology for vessels using low-emission and carbon-free fuels, promote cooperation on international maritime rules and standards, and explore collaboration opportunities in new energy vehicles and the digital industry. This collective effort aims to contribute more substantially to global green development.
From Denmark's perspective, Minister Morten Bødskov stated that strengthening bilateral cooperation aligns with the industrial development strategies of both nations. Denmark will encourage its domestic enterprises to expand investment in China, enhance their business presence, and elevate bilateral industrial cooperation to a new level.
