Imexpharm reports signs of recovery

Imexpharm's Q2 revenue increased compared to Q1, driven by optimized operations and operating costs.

Imexpharm's profitability metrics continued to improve in the first six months. The gross profit margin reached 41,7%, an increase of 1,9 percentage points; the EBITDA margin stood at 24,6%, up 2,7 percentage points year-on-year. This improvement resulted from enhanced production efficiency, streamlined operations, and optimized sales and management costs.

In the second quarter, the company's gross revenue reached 666 ty dong, and net revenue was 562 ty dong, representing increases of 6% and 3% respectively compared to Q1. This growth was primarily fueled by the ethical drug (ETC) channel, as the IMP3 plant resumed production of penicillin injections following a period of maintenance.

For the first six months, cumulative gross revenue reached 1,295 ty dong, and net revenue was 1,108 ty dong, both declining by 10% year-on-year. The company attributed these results to fluctuations in the pharmaceutical business environment across both the over-the-counter (OTC) and ethical drug (ETC) channels since early 2026, which significantly slowed overall market growth compared to previous years.

Recent policy changes created temporary pressure on purchasing power at pharmacies, drugstores, and clinics, leading to a 13% decrease in OTC channel revenue. In response, the company intensified sales through chain channels, resulting in a 17% increase in six-month revenue compared to the same period last year.

In the hospital channel, intense competition in the EU-GMP certified drug segment led to a 9% decrease in revenue year-on-year. However, Q2 revenue for this channel saw a 21% increase compared to Q1. The company continues to invest in high-tech products, such as EU-GMP certified injectable drugs and dispersible tablets, to consolidate market share and sustain profit margins.

Pharmacist Tran Thi Dao, General Director of Imexpharm, stated that a transparent and tightly regulated market will motivate businesses to develop quality products. She added that current challenges also present opportunities for the company to accelerate innovation, pursue its goal of providing effective healthcare solutions, and contribute to elevating the position of Vietnam's pharmaceutical industry on the regional pharmaceutical map.

Alongside its business operations, the company continues to organize numerous workshops and scientific conferences to update treatment advancements, connect expert teams, and gather clinical data for product research and development.

In June, the company was honored for the third consecutive year in the Top 50 Sustainable Businesses (CSA), specifically in the categories of Responsible Consumption-Leading Products and Excellent Corporate Governance.

Previously, on 23/6, Livzon Pharmaceutical Group appointed two senior leaders to join Imexpharm's Board of Directors. The two parties are progressively implementing cooperation for the development of high-value product portfolios for IMP5 and technology transfer.

According to S&P Global CSA, Livzon is one of 23 pharmaceutical companies featured in the 2025 Sustainability Yearbook. Imexpharm anticipates that this partnership will establish a foundation for long-term growth.

Livzon Pharmaceutical Group, established in 1985 and headquartered in Zhuhai, Trung Quoc, is a multinational pharmaceutical conglomerate. It operates modern production lines that meet manufacturing standards set by the FDA (My), Europe, and Japan, among others. In addition to raw materials and chemical drugs, Livzon established its subsidiary, Livzon Bio, in 2010, focusing on the development of biological therapies.
