Maersk, the Danish logistics and shipping group, is seeking investment opportunities to build large, modern, green container ports and strategic logistics projects in Vietnam. This intent was shared by Vincent Clerc, CEO of A.P.Moller - Maersk Group, during a meeting with General Secretary To Lam on 18/11.
Clerc emphasized the group's appreciation for Vietnam's economic development amidst global challenges, identifying Vietnam as a key regional and global partner. Maersk aims to support Vietnam in increasing import-export turnover, transitioning to a low-carbon economy, adapting to climate change, and achieving net-zero emissions. "The group sees great potential and opportunities, and wishes to contribute more to Vietnam's development", Clerc stated.

Maersk is the world's largest logistics and container shipping group, headquartered in Denmark. General Secretary To Lam welcomed Maersk's plan to expand investment in developing green, smart seaport systems and logistics services.
The General Secretary highlighted Vietnam's focus on infrastructure development, including green seaports, to achieve sustainable development goals. He encouraged Maersk to invest in areas like the marine economy, assuring that Vietnam is ready to facilitate foreign investors in developing logistics projects.
Vietnam is among the top 20 economies globally by international trade volume. The government is actively developing comprehensive, widespread, and seamless transport infrastructure to enhance the nation's economic competitiveness.
Vietnam and Denmark established a Comprehensive Partnership in 2013 and a Green Strategic Partnership in 2023. According to the General Secretary, these partnerships serve as a strong impetus for the two countries' relations to advance in green and sustainable development sectors.
