Born in 1989, Tran Duc Thanh became MobiFone's Deputy General Director in August. According to MobiFone, he is a well-trained official with years of experience in technology and digital transformation. He has supported MobiFone in various national digital transformation initiatives and has earned the trust and high regard of leaders from the Ministry of Public Security.
After receiving the appointment at the ceremony, MobiFone's acting general director committed to three core tasks: first, upholding discipline and improving operational effectiveness; second, focusing on a genuine restructuring of MobiFone's production and business activities; and third, building a cohesive, disciplined MobiFone team with a desire to contribute.
Major General Truong Son Lam, Chairman of MobiFone, stated that consolidating the company's key leadership position "holds particular importance", especially as MobiFone enters a phase of strong transformation, preparing for major goals in the coming years.
In late February, the Ministry of Public Security took over the state capital portion in MobiFone from the State Capital Management Committee. This move is seen as enabling MobiFone to leverage its strengths, especially in ensuring information security and developing infrastructure in the digital era.
MobiFone's predecessor was Vietnam Mobile Telecom Services Company (VMS), established in 1993. It was also Vietnam's first mobile telecom network operator. In December 2014, the company transformed into MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation.
