Nam Ngu fish sauce integrates QR code for genuine product authentication

Each bottle of Nam Ngu fish sauce features a unique QR code, enabling buyers to authenticate genuine products and trace their origin.

A brand representative stated that QR code integration began in mid-2025, driven by increasing consumer interest in product quality and origin. Each QR code on a bottle of fish sauce is unique, containing data such as product description, expiry date, lot number, and production date. The system also records the exact production date, matching the embossed date on the bottle's neck.

With a simple scan using a smartphone, consumers can instantly view data synchronized directly from the factory, ensuring accuracy. The company states that QR code technology offers a new experience, providing consumers with peace of mind when purchasing and using products. Buyers can verify all information themselves, eliminating concerns about authenticity, regardless of where the product is purchased. This direct verification strengthens trust between the brand and its customers.

Beyond consumer benefits, QR code technology also supports businesses in operational management. Real-time scan data allows the company to understand consumer demand and optimize distribution channels. Inventory management, product tracking, and origin tracing processes become significantly more accurate and faster compared to traditional recording methods.

This solution also enhances counterfeit control. With multi-layered security, QR codes cannot be self-generated or copied. The system automatically detects unusual scans, duplicate codes, or codes not present in the manufacturer's database, allowing the company to promptly flag suspected counterfeit or fake products in the market. This feature is crucial for the food and beverage sectors, where consumer health and safety are paramount.

A Masan representative stated that applying QR codes for product authentication reflects the Nam Ngu brand's digital transformation strategy, aiming to enhance product information transparency and safety. Through this solution, each product not only meets quality standards but also reinforces the commitment to placing consumers at the center, protecting their rights and shopping experience. The implementation of QR codes is also part of Masan Group and Masan Consumer's strategy to develop a technology-integrated consumer-retail ecosystem. This ecosystem focuses on applying technology to management, distribution, and customer interaction, thereby improving service quality and better meeting evolving shopping demands in a rapidly changing market.
