According to a recent report by Rong Viet Securities (VDS), Kido Frozen Foods Joint Stock Company (Kido Foods - KDF) acquired an additional 4,7 million shares on 17/3. This marked the third consecutive session this major shareholder increased its stake in VDS. Previously, KDF purchased 5 million shares on 13/3 and 4,8 million shares on 16/3.
In total, Kido Foods acquired 14,5 million shares of Rong Viet Securities. Kido Foods executed all transactions via negotiated agreement. Based on the closing prices of the three sessions, KDF may have spent over 220,6 billion VND. Following these transactions, its ownership in VDS increased from 41 million shares (equivalent to 15,07%) to 55,5 million units (equivalent to 20,4%).
Previously, Nutifood Binh Duong – another subsidiary within the Nutifood group – held 11,75 million VDS shares, representing a 4,32% stake. Cumulatively, the Nutifood group now owns 24,72% of the capital in Rong Viet Securities, making it the largest shareholder group.
The total number of shares held by this shareholder group is 67,25 million units. Based on the market price at the close of trading on the morning of 19/3, this asset block is valued at over 1,000 billion VND.
Kido Foods became a subsidiary of Nutifood Nutrition Foods Joint Stock Company after Nutifood acquired a 51% stake from KIDO Group in 2024. By the end of 2025, KIDO Group decided to transfer its remaining 49% capital in KDF to Nutifood or a partner designated by Nutifood. The anticipated transfer value is 2,500 billion VND.
A connection between Rong Viet Securities and KIDO Group had formed earlier, as CEO Tran Le Nguyen was once a major shareholder, holding approximately 35% of the securities company's capital. In late 10/2015, he assumed the position of chairman of the board of directors of VDS. Mr. Nguyen then divested his shares and ceased to be a major shareholder by late 2019.
Rong Viet Securities, established in 2006, primarily operates in securities brokerage, margin lending, investment banking, investment, and asset management. In 2025, VDS reported a total revenue of 1,054 billion VND, an increase of about 5%. However, after-tax profit decreased by 3% to over 282 billion VND. The company aims to become one of the leading financial institutions nationwide by 2030.
Nutifood, founded in the 1990s, is one of Vietnam's leading domestic enterprises, primarily active in the food sector. In its initial development phase, it specialized in dairy products. Later, under the leadership of Mr. Tran Thanh Hai (known as "Bau Hai") and his wife, the company expanded into nutritional foods and beverages, medicinal herbs (ginseng), coffee, and most recently, the ice cream segment.
