Samsung, South Korea's largest diversified private group, primarily operates in electronics, finance, heavy industry, and technology. The company began its operations in Vietnam with a television manufacturing plant in Ho Chi Minh City in 1995. Since then, Samsung has grown to become Vietnam's largest foreign direct investment (FDI) investor, with total capital exceeding 23 billion USD by late 2024.
In Vietnam, Samsung operates 6 manufacturing plants, one research and development (R&D) center, and one sales entity. According to Samsung's QIII financial report, the group's four factories in Vietnam—SEVT, SEV, SDV, and SEHC—recorded cumulative revenue of 67,352 billion won (approximately 45.86 billion USD) for the first nine months, an increase of over 5.5%. The company's total profit reached 4,369 billion won (approximately 2.97 billion USD), an increase of over 4.5%.
SEVT stands out as Samsung's largest factory in Vietnam. Globally, this facility ranks third in revenue and profit for the South Korean electronics group, behind two factories located in the United States. For the first nine months of the year, SEVT reported revenue of 29,043 billion won (19.77 billion USD), a 10% increase. Its net profit was 2,000 billion won (1.36 billion USD), remaining unchanged from last year.
