Siemens Mobility has awarded DHL Supply Chain a multi-year contract to manage the distribution of rail components across England. This partnership will support the repair, maintenance, and refurbishment of trains, ensuring efficient rail operations throughout the United Kingdom.
Under the agreement, DHL will operate two fleets from Siemens Mobility's rail component distribution centers in Kettering and Goole. Deliveries will go to Siemens depots, sub-stations, and sub-supplier locations. A key aspect of the service includes same-day deliveries for urgent repairs, vital for maintaining smooth rail service.

Transport planning for these operations will be managed through DHL's Connected Control Tower in Tamworth. This system provides real-time visibility of goods in transit and enables optimal route planning, enhancing efficiency and responsiveness.
"We are delighted to partner with DHL to further enhance the supply of materials from Siemens Mobility's distribution centers to our fleets, keeping passengers moving", stated Sambit Banerjee, co-Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Mobility UK&I. He added that this collaboration supports Siemens Mobility's mission to transform the rail transport sector and is a "key part" of efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of logistics operations.
In line with sustainability goals, 70% of the fleet allocated to this contract currently uses hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) fuel. DHL plans for the remaining fleet to be fully converted to HVO by the end of 2025.
