On the afternoon of 21/7, the Vietnam Lottery Company (Vietlott) held a ceremony in Hanoi to award the Jackpot 1 prize of the Power 6/55 product, valued at over 102.8 billion VND.
The lucky winner is Mr. K.S.H, a South Korean expert residing in Hanoi and employed by a foreign-invested company in Bac Ninh. He is the fourth foreign customer to win prizes from Vietlott's Mega 6/45 and Power 6/55 products. Previously, two other South Koreans and one Chinese person had won these prizes.
Mr. K.S.H's win marks the largest prize ever claimed by a foreign national from Vietlott. The previous record for a foreign winner was 32.6 billion VND, also won by a South Korean individual.
According to Mr. K.S.H, he discovered Vietnam's lottery products approximately four to five years ago. He found them appealing because they offered entertainment similar to the lottery games in South Korea, allowing him to continue his hobby while working in Vietnam. He typically purchases lottery tickets two times a week, buying 20 to 30 tickets per session. "When the jackpot value gets high, I buy more, about 50 tickets each time," Mr. K.S.H shared.
He purchased his winning ticket via a quick pick machine at sales point 2 on Nguyen Dang Dao street, Kinh Bac ward, Bac Ninh. Mr. K.S.H expressed his surprise, stating he was "very surprised to learn I won over 100 billion VND."
After paying 10.28 billion VND in personal income tax, the South Korean expert will receive over 92.5 billion VND. He also committed 1.5 billion VND to charity through the Tam Tai Viet fund.
