SCG Group, a major Thai construction materials conglomerate, recently announced its revenue in Vietnam for the first six months of the year reached 37,120 billion VND, equivalent to 1.42 billion USD, marking a 126% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
This growth was primarily due to improved business operations and the re-operation of the Long Son Petrochemical Complex (LSP) in Ho Chi Minh City (TP HCM) late last year. However, operations at the complex were temporarily suspended in April, affected by supply chain disruptions stemming from the Middle East conflict.
SCG commenced operations in Vietnam in 1992 and currently oversees 28 companies with over 15,000 employees. Its diverse operations span construction materials, smart living solutions, chemicals, packaging, and logistics.
In the first half of the year, PRIME Group, an SCG subsidiary, reported a 24% increase in glazed porcelain tile exports. The company is expanding its production capacity to meet global demand, reinforcing Vietnam's standing as a hub for premium construction material manufacturing.
Additionally, carton packaging production capacity in the Southern region is expanding through a 622 billion VND investment, with commercial operations expected next year. Separately, at the 5 billion USD Long Son Petrochemical Complex, a 500 million USD renovation project has surpassed 60% completion.
Thammasak Sethaudom, SCG Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, stated that the group will continue to invest in key projects, contributing to Vietnam's energy security, industrial development, and its 2050 Net Zero goal. He affirmed, "We remain confident in the future of Vietnam's industry and will continue to invest in the nation's innovation, sustainable development, and human capital."
SCG is a leading Thai industrial conglomerate operating across three core business segments: construction materials, petrochemicals, and packaging. Its investment network extends throughout Southeast Asia, with Vietnam identified as a key market.
The year 2026 marks 50 years since Vietnam and Thailand established diplomatic relations. Thailand is currently a significant investor in Vietnam, with hundreds of active projects and a total registered capital of approximately 15 billion USD.
