Ho Chi Minh City Technical Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company (CII) held nearly 36,9 million PC1 shares, as per its Q2 consolidated financial report. The initial investment cost for these shares was over 738,5 billion dong. By 30/6, the fair value, based on the closing market price, had risen to over 851,8 billion dong. This resulted in an unrealized profit of over 113 billion dong, a return exceeding 15%.
CII became a major shareholder in PC1 Group in early June when its subsidiary, CII Invest, acquired nearly 3,9 million shares. The group steadily increased its holdings, reaching 8,97% of PC1's charter capital by the end of June. This positioned CII as the second largest shareholder, behind only Trinh Van Tuan, the former Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Financial reports indicate CII's average investment cost for PC1 shares was approximately 20.000 dong per unit. This price range was a low point for the stock, which traded primarily between 18.000-20.000 dong per unit from mid-May to early June, its lowest in about one year.
CII has repeatedly clarified that this is purely a financial investment. The company has no intention of engaging in PC1's operations, including the nomination or election of personnel to its Board of Directors or Supervisory Board.
Following CII's presence, PC1's stock price improved by over 20%. On 30/7, the stock closed at 21.650 dong. CII recently increased its investment, raising its total holdings to over 45,61 million shares, equivalent to 11,09% of PC1's capital.
PC1, originally a state-owned enterprise, specializes in constructing national power transmission projects, having completed tens of thousands of kilometers of 110 kV, 220 kV, and 500 kV power lines. In mid-May, Trinh Van Tuan faced prosecution for alleged embezzlement and accounting violations. Last week, PC1 convened an extraordinary meeting to reorganize its leadership. Trinh Khanh Linh (born 1999), Tuan's daughter, was elected Chairwoman of the Board of Directors.
Following this, CII's Board of Directors approved the company and its member units to further increase their ownership in PC1. CII assessed that PC1's organizational structure and operations had stabilized. Both companies plan to coordinate closely to leverage each other's strengths.
CII is one of the leading enterprises in transport infrastructure. The company is known for projects such as the Hanoi Highway expansion and the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway.
For the first 6 months of the year, CII reported net revenue of 1.586 billion dong, an 11% increase year-on-year. However, after-tax profit fell by 48% to 96 billion dong, largely due to a decrease in financial income and a rise in interest expenses.
