To mark the opening of the 2026-2027 school year, Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank), in collaboration with the Vietnam Children's Protection Fund and schools nationwide, is implementing the "Cung em tien buoc" (Walk with me forward) scholarship program. This initiative targets students facing difficulties who demonstrate strong determination to excel in their studies.

The program is simultaneously rolled out across 34 provinces and cities nationwide, utilizing Vietcombank's system of 685 sales points and the grassroots trade unions at its six subsidiaries. In each locality, the units coordinate with schools to identify and select disadvantaged students who show strong resolve in their academic pursuits. Scholarship presentations are conducted transparently, reaching the intended recipients and adapting to the specific conditions of each area.

A total of 7,350 students will receive scholarships, each valued at one million dong, amounting to a total of 7.35 billion dong. This funding comes from Vietcombank's committed sponsorship, combined with contributions from its staff, employees, and customers. These contributions were gathered through the nationwide walking program "Cung Viet Nam tien buoc - hanh trinh 10 ty buoc xanh, vi Viet Nam vung ben" (Walk with Vietnam forward - journey of 10 billion green steps, for a sustainable Vietnam).

The "Cung Viet Nam tien buoc - hanh trinh 10 ty buoc xanh, vi Viet Nam vung ben" program was organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee. It commemorated the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on 2/9.

The event attracted over 1.77 million participants, recording more than 10 billion steps across 34 provinces, cities, and nearly 3,000 communes, wards, and special administrative zones. The program also set a Guinness World Record for the largest number of localities simultaneously organizing walking activities to raise environmental awareness.

In conjunction with the program, Vietcombank amplified the message "10 ty buoc xanh - Vietcombank dong hanh" (10 billion green steps - Vietcombank accompanies), encouraging its staff, employees, and customers to participate and contribute to social welfare activities through the "Cung em tien buoc" account of the Vietnam Children's Protection Fund.

The achievements of this community journey transformed steps for health and the environment into practical resources, providing students with better learning conditions as they begin the new school year.

Mr. Hong Quang, a Member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Trade Union, representing the bank, shared that each scholarship offers not only material support but also instills belief and encouragement in students on their academic path. "We hope that the community's steps today will further motivate them to confidently move forward, nurture their dreams, and build a brighter future", Mr. Quang stated.
