Vietnam seeks increased cooperation with Switzerland to develop crypto assets

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang proposed that Zug canton (Switzerland) and the Crypto Valley Fund enhance cooperation in human resource training and digital asset market infrastructure development for Vietnam.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang made the proposal during a meeting with officials from Zug canton (Switzerland) and the Crypto Valley venture capital fund in Zurich on 28/7.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, Vietnam offers many advantages for attracting international investment funds, technology businesses, and financial organizations. These advantages include a population of approximately 100 million people, a young demographic structure, and a thriving technology startup ecosystem. He cited data indicating that the flow of crypto asset capital through Vietnam is estimated at around 220 billion USD each year.

The Deputy Prime Minister called for increased cooperation with Zug canton and Crypto Valley in several key areas: human resource training, policy consultation, and the development of digital asset market infrastructure. He also emphasized the importance of connecting the blockchain business community. Additionally, he urged Crypto Valley to expand its investments, particularly into Vietnamese technology startups.

Vietnam is actively promoting the establishment of international financial centers in TP HCM and Da Nang, while also incrementally completing the legal framework for crypto assets and digital financial models. Switzerland's Zug canton is recognized as one of the world's leading blockchain hubs, home to the Crypto Valley ecosystem, which concentrates businesses operating in blockchain, digital assets, and financial technology.

Alberto Diaz, a representative from Zug canton's Department of Economy, affirmed the locality's readiness to cooperate with Vietnam in financial technology, innovation, human resource training, and sharing experiences in creating a favorable environment for technology businesses.

Meanwhile, Olaf Hannemann, co-founder of the Crypto Valley Fund, assessed Vietnam's potential to become a regional innovation and digital finance hub. This potential stems from its large market size, rapid digital transformation, and strong reform orientation. Crypto Valley expressed its willingness to engage with Vietnamese partners to explore further cooperation opportunities in this sector.

At a seminar held on the same day with Swiss and European businesses, investment funds, and banks, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang encouraged Swiss financial groups, investment funds, and technology businesses to participate in developing international financial centers in Vietnam and expand investments in artificial intelligence and semiconductors.

During the seminar, Swiss and European investors expressed interest in Vietnam's policies concerning foreign investor ownership ratios, the development direction of capital and bond markets, the legal framework for securities, and mechanisms for attracting investment to the international financial centers in Vietnam.

On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister also held meetings with the Swiss Business Association (Economiesuisse) and engaged with a community of Vietnamese experts and intellectuals working at financial institutions, technology businesses, and research institutes.

He urged domestic agencies to continue building a network of overseas Vietnamese experts. This initiative aims to foster greater connection, facilitate experience sharing, and support the policy-making process in finance, technology, and innovation.
