Military Industry and Telecommunications Group (Viettel) announced its 2025 business results on 9/1.
The group's revenue reached approximately 220,400 billion dong, a nearly 14% increase from 2024. This marks the second consecutive year of double-digit growth for Viettel.
Consolidated pre-tax profit hit a record high of about 56,800 billion dong (nearly 2.2 billion USD), up 4.5% compared to 2024. This also marks the second year Viettel's profit surpassed the 50,000 billion dong threshold.
International business segments were the main catalyst for Viettel's 2025 growth. Viettel Global, which manages operations in 10 overseas markets, reported a record revenue of approximately 3.3 billion USD, a nearly 24% rise from 2024, exceeding group targets. This strong performance led to Viettel's cash flow back to Vietnam reaching 385.5 million USD last year. By early 2026, the group's foreign investment payback ratio was approximately 91%, equivalent to 4.5 billion USD. Viettel holds the largest market share in 7 of its 10 international markets.
Domestically, Viettel maintained its leading position in the core telecommunications sector, driven by an increasing number of mobile subscribers. By the end of last year, the network operator served approximately 12.9 million 5G subscribers.
Beyond telecom, Viettel's profitability was boosted by areas exceeding targets, including: digital services, cybersecurity, high-tech industry, aerospace, and equipment manufacturing. This strong financial performance places Viettel among Vietnam's most profitable enterprises, alongside Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PVN) and leading banks.
The positive business outcomes also led to improved employee income, with an average monthly increase of 7% to approximately 35.7 million dong.
In the defense industry, after three years of research, Viettel's team successfully tested the propulsion component of high-tech strategic weapons under real-world conditions. Additionally, the military enterprise completed trials for many new weapon types in a short period.
Looking ahead to 2030, Viettel plans for an average annual growth of 12-14%. The group aims to lead in digital technology infrastructure while expanding international business and high-tech exports. Revenue from foreign telecommunications and digital services is projected to contribute approximately 35-40% of total revenue.
