THE is one of the three largest and most prestigious university ranking organizations globally. The organization stated that this Southeast Asia ranking is currently a pilot project before its official launch. The assessment involved 195 institutions, evaluating them across 18 indicators similar to the world ranking methodology. These indicators are grouped into five criteria: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook.
Currently, universities must have a minimum of 1,000 scientific publications over the past 5 years to be included in THE's rankings. However, the organization plans to lower this requirement, aiming to allow more institutions to participate in the next version.
