Professor, Doctor Tran Xuan Nam, Deputy Director of the Military Technical Academy (MTA), announced this information at a workshop titled "Talent Training - A Breakthrough Solution for Developing High-Quality Human Resources to Build a Revolutionary, Regular, Elite, and Modern Army" on 29/4.
Specifically, the Academy aims to train 100-150 military engineers, 60-75 talented masters, and 30 high-quality doctors by 2030. This group will possess strong political resolve, general military knowledge, deep specialized expertise, and superior capabilities, enabling them to lead innovation and create new knowledge and technology.
The program prioritizes several key, strategic fields with high and urgent demand from both the military and society, such as: computer science, electronics and telecommunications engineering, radar navigation engineering, automotive engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering, and control and automation engineering.
The Academy will implement various solutions, including the selection process. For the talent-focused engineering program, the academy anticipates three groups of candidates:
The first group includes academy students who have won three or more national or international Olympic competitions in mathematics, physics, chemistry, or informatics.
The second group consists of students whose entrance scores were in the top 20% nationwide, achieved excellent grades in their first two years, demonstrated outstanding aptitude in studies and research, and possess a B1 or higher foreign language proficiency.
Finally, MTA plans to select outstanding students from non-military universities who have a clear background, strong political and ethical qualities, sufficient health, exceptional abilities, and university entrance scores equivalent to those required for the talent-focused military engineering program.
Nam stated that it is expected that students in this program will be awarded a talented military engineering degree at level 7/8 (equivalent to a master's degree; other universities typically offer level 6/8). Upon excellent graduation, students will be directly promoted to first lieutenant (whereas typical graduates become second lieutenant or first lieutenant). This group also has the opportunity to continue to the high-quality doctoral program.
Graduates of the talented master's and high-quality doctoral programs will be considered for early promotion.
Across all three programs, students will also receive numerous benefits, such as: internships and thesis projects at technology companies and defense factories, as well as short-term internships abroad, provided they meet higher-than-standard output requirements.
