By the end of April, about 30 universities offering medical programs had announced their admission methods for 2026. Among them, 17 universities still use high school transcripts as a standalone criterion.
All require candidates to achieve a "Good" academic performance in 12th grade and a total score of three high school graduation exam subjects (or Mathematics, Literature, and one other subject) of 20 or higher; or a high school graduation assessment score of 8,5/10 or higher. These are general requirements, according to this year's university admission regulations.
Some universities have additional requirements. For example, Dai hoc Y Duoc Hai Phong and Dai hoc Ky thuat Y te Hai Duong require candidates to have a foreign language proficiency certificate. Dai hoc Phan Chau Trinh does not accept candidates over 27 years old.
Beyond standalone transcript review, some universities combine transcripts with aptitude test scores or graduation exam scores, such as Dai hoc Van Lang and Dai hoc Nguyen Tat Thanh.

Admission subject combinations for medical programs in 2026 at universities
For the 2026 admissions cycle, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has tightened transcript-based admissions, standardizing entry requirements and scoring methods across universities. Universities cannot consider scores from only two to five semesters as before; instead, they must consider all six semesters for at least three subjects. Mathematics or Literature is mandatory, weighted at least one-third of the total score on a 30-point scale. Additionally, MOET requires specific conditions regarding high school graduation exam scores.
Candidates applying for admission using transcripts should monitor the application submission schedule of each university. They must also register their preferences on the MOET's common system from 2/7 to 5 PM on 14/7.
University admission benchmarks for 2026 will be announced by universities before 5 PM on 13/8.
