9th-grade student repeatedly assaulted by 7th-grade group on street

A 9th-grade student from Chuyen Ngoai Secondary School repeatedly assaulted with belts by a group of 7th-grade students on his way home from school, sparking outrage on social media.

The incident occurred at noon on 24/4 near Yen Lenh Port Industrial Park, Duy Tien Ward. A 9th-grade student, on his way home from school, was intercepted and repeatedly beaten by a group of 7th-grade students from the same school.

A video circulating on social media for the past two days has caused public outrage due to the aggression. The video shows the group of students striking the victim with belts, punching and kicking his head, back, and face. Despite the student's attempts to flee, the group continued to pursue and assault him, while other students stood by, watching and even cheering them on.

The school's investigation confirmed that 7 students participated in the assault, while two 9th-grade students stood by filming the incident.

Immediately after the incident, the victim's family took him to Hung Ha Hospital (Hung Yen) for examination and treatment. He sustained soft tissue and head injuries but is now in stable condition.

The school stated that it requested the involved students to write statements, invited their parents for discussions, and reported the incident to Duy Tien Ward Police for verification. According to the school's report to the Department of Education and Training of Ninh Binh province, the families of the involved students offered to cover all medical expenses and provide an additional 16 million VND; however, the victim's family refused, demanding a higher compensation amount.

Recent consecutive incidents of school violence have caused public outrage and concern. Adding to the controversy, regulations from the Ministry of Education and Training stipulate that the most severe disciplinary actions for students are reminders (for elementary school) and written self-criticism (for junior and senior high school).
