On the afternoon of 5/4, the Department of Education and Training announced the registration data for the 10th-grade exam. The number of students opting out increased by over 5,800 compared to last year, despite a larger overall cohort this year.
These students may pursue alternative paths, such as applying to private schools, continuing education programs, vocational training, or studying abroad. The remaining registered students have the opportunity to adjust their preferences between 4-8/5.
This year, over 151,200 students registered for public 10th grade in the city, competing for 118,550 available placements. This indicates an admission rate of approximately 78%.
The Ho Chi Minh City 10th-grade entrance exam is scheduled for 1-2/6, nearly one week earlier than in previous years. Students will take exams in three core subjects: Mathematics, Literature, and a Foreign Language (primarily English), with scores used for admission. Those aspiring to specialized schools will complete additional corresponding subject exams. In Thanh An island commune and the Con Dao special zone, however, schools admit 10th-grade students based on academic records.
