200-year-old British education brand establishes presence in Ho Chi Minh City

King's College School Wimbledon (King's) brings its long-standing British education model to Vietnam, with enrollment anticipated in August 2027.

King's College School Wimbledon (King's), ranked among the top 5 high schools globally by the HSBC Hurun Education Global High Schools 2025 report, has announced its development plans for Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). The first cohort of students is expected to enroll in August 2027.

According to a school representative, King's College Wimbledon HCMC will offer a comprehensive educational pathway for students aged 2 to 18, covering early years through secondary education.

King's Wimbledon will directly manage and assure the quality of King's HCMC. The school's leadership team will be deeply involved in the academic development process in Vietnam, from designing the curriculum and recruiting and training teachers to student care and implementing academic and personal development programs.

This rigorous process ensures consistency in educational quality and upholds the authentic British educational ethos that has established King's reputation across its global network.

Kieran McLaughlin, Founding Principal of King's College Wimbledon HCMC, stated that the new school will be a synergy of King's rich history and tradition with world-class facilities. This approach aims to provide the most comprehensive and exemplary learning environment for students in Vietnam.

King's College Wimbledon HCMC is located in The Global City, a prime location connected to key residential areas and the international community. Spanning nearly 2 hectares, the campus was designed by Broadway Malyan, an international design firm behind numerous large-scale projects.

The facility system is developed to maximally support students' comprehensive learning and development journey. Amenities include a 7-a-side football field, a multi-purpose sports hall, a standard 25-meter indoor swimming pool, a dedicated pool for early years, science laboratories, and a 500-seat theater.

Additionally, the school is developing outdoor learning spaces and areas for performing arts and creative activities.

Doctor Anne Cotton, Principal of King's College School Wimbledon and Honorary Principal of King's College Wimbledon HCMC, shared insights into the development roadmap in Vietnam. She explained that the school's education aims for academic excellence, fostered by curiosity, creativity, compassion, and a spirit of community. "We encourage and support students to develop independent thinking, understand themselves, and progressively build their own paths," she added.

King's College Wimbledon equips learners globally, including students in Vietnam, with intellectual, spiritual, and character development experiences, along with optimal preparation for their future in the broader world beyond the school gates. King's students are encouraged to cultivate curiosity, creativity, independent thinking, and a sense of responsibility toward the community.

Alongside the academic curriculum, the school also implements a Personal Enrichment Programme. This program aims to broaden experiences, enhance social skills, and improve adaptability to global changes.

King's College School Wimbledon students consistently achieve leading academic results globally. Over 98% of GCSE and IGCSE results attain A*/A grades (equivalent to 9-7), while more than 96% of A Level results achieve A*/A/B. Notably, over half of students achieve an A* or equivalent to a 7 on the International Baccalaureate (IB) scale.

A school representative indicated that approximately 99% of its students gain admission to prestigious universities worldwide each year. Of these, about 25% secure places at Oxford and Cambridge Universities and US Ivy League institutions.

In conjunction with the school's establishment announcement, King's HCMC has also opened its School Gallery. This is the first space reflecting King's spirit and educational standards in Vietnam. Parents and students visiting the gallery can experience the educational environment, learn about the facilities, and directly engage with academic experts about King's College Wimbledon HCMC's educational approach.
