This regulation is part of the 2026 official military university and college admission guidelines, announced by the Ministry of National Defense on 19/5.
Specifically, candidates with an IELTS certificate of 5.5 or a TOEFL iBT score of 55 or higher will have their scores converted to English points for admission. Additionally, the Military Science Academy also converts TRKI-2 or higher Russian language certificates for candidates applying to the Russian Language major.
Candidates who take the high school graduation exam in a foreign language and also use a foreign language certificate for admission will have the higher score prioritized.
The conversion table for international foreign language certificates at 23 military schools in 2026 is as follows:

This year, 23 military schools are recruiting for university and college programs, an increase of three schools compared to last year. These include the Military Technical Officer School, the Air Defense-Air Force Technical College, and the Naval Technical College. The total target enrollment is 5,420 university students, an increase of over 1,000, marking the highest level for military schools in the past five years.
These schools employ four admission methods: direct admission, competency assessment test scores from Vietnam National University, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, high school graduation exam scores, and competency assessment test scores from the Ministry of National Defense's QDA exam. This marks the first time the Ministry of National Defense has organized its own separate entrance examination.
