326 students from Tuyen Quang specialized high school conclude graduation retake exam

326 students took two elective subjects on the morning of 15/8, marking the end of the second graduation exam, which the Ministry of Education deemed safe and serious.

On the afternoon of 15/8, under scorching sun, students left Tuyen Quang specialized high school after completing their two elective subjects. English attracted the most candidates with nearly 200 registrations, followed by physics (140), chemistry and history (113 students each), while biology and geography had nearly 40 students.

Yesterday, students took the two mandatory subjects: literature and mathematics. After one and a half days of exams, the Ministry of Education and Training reported that all 326 registered students were present (two previously registered private candidates confirmed they would not retake the exam); no students or invigilators violated regulations.

"The retake exam at Tuyen Quang specialized high school proceeded safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations," the ministry stated on the afternoon of 15/8.

Mathematics and literature exam papers

Over 1.2 million candidates nationwide took the high school graduation exam on 11-12/6. Fraud was detected at Tuyen Quang specialized high school when 299 out of 328 students achieved mathematics scores of 9 or higher, the highest nationwide.

Investigative agencies initially identified collusion between parents, candidates, and teachers. Due to the involvement of many individuals and the inability to concretize specific violations, while prolonged delays would impact candidates' legitimate rights, the ministry organized a graduation retake exam on 14-15/8.

Tuyen Quang mobilized 175 personnel for the exam. All invigilators received ratings of "good" or higher for their performance and did not participate in the previous exam at this school. The ministry also dispatched teams for inspection and supervision.

Exam scores will be announced on 19/8. Candidates can use these results for graduation and university admissions. Universities stated they would consider additional admissions based on candidates' registered preferences on the ministry's system and previously announced benchmark scores.
