Saigon University will take over all assets, finances, students, and employees of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Pedagogical College. Students from the college will have their rights protected and will continue their studies at Saigon University. Faculty members will be assigned to suitable positions based on job requirements.
Both institutions can continue using their existing seals for 45 days to process diplomas, certificates, financial matters, employee benefits, and facilitate the handover process.
TP HCM's Department of Education and Training is tasked with leading and coordinating with relevant departments and units. Their role includes guiding, inspecting, and supervising the merger, particularly regarding personnel arrangements for employees and approving the new financial autonomy plan after the consolidation.
Saigon University is the oldest university in TP HCM, established in 1908 as the French-Chinese Secondary School. After 30/4/1975, it became the headquarters of Saigon Pedagogical College, later renamed TP HCM Pedagogical College in 9/1976, and was upgraded to a university in 2007. The university currently has about 22,000 learners across 49 majors and formal training programs.
Ba Ria - Vung Tau Pedagogical College has a history spanning over 50 years. Its predecessor was Phuoc Tuy Pedagogical School (1971), which was later renamed Dong Nai Primary Pedagogical School (1975), Ba Ria - Vung Tau Pedagogical Secondary School (1991), and finally Ba Ria - Vung Tau Pedagogical College from 2000. The college has nearly 1,100 students.
