81 billion VND abandoned complex transformed into university dormitory

After more than 10 years of neglect, two buildings with 150 rooms have been handed over to Bac Lieu University for conversion into student dormitories.

The Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee announced on 23/7 that this initiative aims to prevent wastefulness. Located on 3/2 street in Bac Lieu ward, the complex, originally valued at 81 billion VND, has been abandoned since 2015. Spanning over 18,000 square meters, it can accommodate approximately 1,200 students.

Initially, the buildings were also designed for students in the former Bac Lieu province, with a monthly rent of around 100,000 VND. However, almost no one moved in.

According to a representative from Bac Lieu University, the first floor is planned as a service area for daily living and dining needs, while the remaining floors will serve as residential rooms.

The university currently has over 3,000 students. Its main campus is located on Vo Thi Sau street in Bac Lieu ward, approximately 3 km from the new complex.
