Boy suffers facial bruising, ear ringing after tutoring with foreign teacher

A 4th-grade student in Quy Nhon ward sustained facial bruising and ear ringing after a tutoring session, with suspicions he was slapped by his Indian teacher.

Quy Nhon ward officials reported on 25/5 that the 38-year-old teacher was not present when authorities arrived to investigate. However, his wife confirmed that her husband had slapped the 4th-grade student. Authorities also discovered the teacher was conducting unregistered private tutoring sessions at his home. The police are currently gathering evidence to pursue legal action.

The family reported that on the afternoon of 23/5, the mother took her 10-year-old son, a student at Tran Hung Dao Primary School, to the teacher's home on Ly Tu Trong street for an English tutoring session. Approximately 40 minutes later, the teacher's wife sent a message, claiming the boy was disobedient and had been slapped in the face by the teacher.

Upon picking up her son at 4:15 PM, the mother noticed his right cheek was swollen and red. The child complained of ringing in his ears and a headache, prompting her to take him to Gia Lai Provincial General Hospital. Doctors there diagnosed the boy with a severe soft tissue injury, indicating a strong impact to his cheek and ear.

The parent recounted that upon entering the class, her son was holding a small toy and inadvertently touched the teacher. The teacher then reportedly threw the toy outside before forcefully slapping the boy's cheek, causing him to fall to the floor, become panicked, and cry.
