The High School for Gifted Foreign Languages (CNN), affiliated with the University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, announced on 30/5 that over 5,100 candidates have registered for this year's 10th grade entrance exam, a notable increase from 3,400 last year.
While the English specialized class maintained a stable admission ratio of 1/5, the other six specialized blocks saw increased competition.
French and Korean specialized classes recorded the highest competition ratios, approximately 1/14, doubling last year's rate of nearly 1/7. Each of these two classes will admit 35 students, yet they received 510 applications.
Chinese and Japanese specialized classes followed closely with ratios of about 1/12. The Russian specialized class, while no longer the most competitive, also saw its ratio increase from 1/7 to 1/11.4.
The entrance exam for 10th grade at the High School for Gifted Foreign Languages is scheduled for 7/6. Candidates will take exams in Literature and Mathematics in the morning, followed by English and their specialized foreign language in the afternoon.
Admission scores will be based on the total points from 4 subjects, with the specialized subject receiving a double weighting, for a maximum total of 50 points. The school only considers candidates who complete all 4 exams, scoring 2 points or higher in each subject. No bonus or incentive points will be added.
The cutoff scores for 10th grade at the High School for Gifted Foreign Languages are expected to be announced before 21/6.
For the upcoming academic year, tuition is set at 3.2 million VND per month. These scholarships will be announced along with the exam scores. Scholarships for subsequent years will be based on academic performance.
