First Ho Chi Minh City school announces projected 10th grade enrollment targets

Nguyen Huu Huan High School expects to admit 700 students, equivalent to 16 10th grade classes, for the upcoming academic year, an increase of one class compared to last year.

Nguyen Huu Huan High School, the first in Ho Chi Minh City to announce its public 10th grade enrollment targets, stated on 12/2 that its 700-student intake will include two integrated English classes, with the remainder being general education classes.

The school has a strong academic reputation, ranking among the top 3 for 10th grade admission scores in Ho Chi Minh City in 2025. With a benchmark of 23,5/30 points, candidates needed to achieve an average of nearly 8 points per subject to secure admission.

Beyond the compulsory curriculum, the school provides a comprehensive selection of elective subjects, including: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Informatics, Economic and Legal Education, Music, Fine Arts, and Technology. Students also have the option to study Japanese, Chinese, or Korean as a second foreign language.

The subject combinations offered at Nguyen Huu Huan High School are as follows:

The 10th grade entrance examination in Ho Chi Minh City for 2026 is scheduled for late May, which is one week earlier than in previous years.

Students will sit for examinations in three core subjects: Mathematics, Literature, and a Foreign Language (primarily English) to gain admission to public high schools. Candidates seeking entry into specialized schools will also take an additional subject-specific exam. For unique areas such as Thanh An island commune and the Con Dao special zone, schools have the option to admit 10th grade students based on their academic records.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training stated that the 10th grade exam structure will be similar to last year, primarily covering knowledge from the 8th and 9th grades. The difficulty level will be adjusted to match the overall capacity of students across the city following recent administrative mergers.
