Vice rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law receives the order of academic palms

Professor Do Van Dai was awarded the order of academic palms for his many years of contributions to legal education between France and Vietnam.

"I am very pleased because this is recognition from France, a country I have been deeply connected with, second only to Vietnam", Professor Do Van Dai, Vice Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, expressed on the morning of 10/2.

Professor Dai was bestowed the Order of Academic Palms by decree of the French Prime Minister on 29/12/2025. This prestigious award, initiated by Napoleon I in the early 19th century, honors individuals who have made significant contributions to French education, science, culture, and arts.

Upon receiving the news yesterday from the French Embassy, Professor Dai immediately called his host family in France to share his joy. He was touched when they expressed their desire to attend the award ceremony in Vietnam.

Professor Dai was sent by the state to study in France in 1994, after graduating as valedictorian from Hanoi Law University. Within 10 years, he completed his bachelor's, master's, and successfully defended his doctoral thesis at Aix-Marseille III University.

From 2001 to 2007, he served as a law lecturer at Aix-Marseille III University and Paris XIII University, and was a visiting lecturer at several universities, including Paul Cezannes, Paris 2, and Tours. In 2005, he passed the national university qualification examination in France and was recognized as a "Maître de conferences"—a title equivalent to an associate professor in French universities.

Professor Dai shared, "From the moment I set foot in France, I always held the conviction to accumulate the best knowledge to serve my homeland later." In 2007, Professor Dai returned to work at Ho Chi Minh City University of Law. 4 years later, he was recognized as an associate professor and then a professor in 2021.

At the university, he taught and mentored students in many subjects related to the French legal system and participated in collaborative training programs between universities of the two countries. Professor Dai is highly regarded for his contributions to education, research, legal development, and the establishment of case law in Vietnam.
