The student Tet holiday schedule was approved by the People's Committee on 26/12. This schedule grants preschool children, general education students, and continuing education students a maximum of 11 days off, from 12/2/2026 to 22/2/2026, corresponding to the 25th day of the 12th lunar month to the end of the 6th day of the 1st lunar month.
This approved plan aligns with the initial proposal from the Department of Education and Training. However, it rejected the suggestion to grant principals the flexibility to extend the holiday to a maximum of 14 days, even if curriculum progress could be ensured.

According to regulations set by the Ministry of Education and Training, provinces and cities can independently plan their academic calendars. However, they must ensure a minimum of 35 weeks of actual study. The first semester must conclude before 18/1/2026, with the second semester ending before 31/5.
To date, about 5 localities have announced their 2026 Tet holiday schedules for students, with most offering 11 to 13 days off. Hanoi, in contrast, has set a maximum of 9 days.
Nationwide, the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday for workers is scheduled from 14/2 to 22/2, encompassing the 27th day of the 12th lunar month to the end of the 6th day of the 1st lunar month, totaling 9 days.
