The Military Technical Academy announced the adjustment for its civilian programs on 26/7. In addition to the total score of 21.35 for the three-subject combination, candidates must achieve a minimum score of 6.25 in math to be eligible.
Compared to the announcement in June, the minimum score for these two programs has decreased by 2.65 points, with the math requirement lowered by 1.75 points.
This decision is based on the Ministry of Education and Training's revised training standards for integrated circuits, issued on 22/7. Specifically, candidates applying for programs in this field must have a math score in the top 20% nationwide. Simultaneously, their combined subject score must fall within the top 25%. Previously, the Ministry required a math score of 8/10 and a combined score of 24/30.
For candidates using Hanoi National University's HSA or Ho Chi Minh City National University’s APT assessment scores, the Military Technical Academy will convert the math score to a 10-point scale using the following formula:
Math Score = 10*X/Y*P/Po (Po = 30*M/N)
Where:
M is the candidate's HSA or APT score.
N is the maximum possible score for that test.
X is the score for the Mathematics and Data Processing section of the HSA or the Mathematics section of the APT.
Y is the maximum possible score for the Mathematics and Data Processing section of the HSA or the Mathematics section of the APT.
P is the actual HSA or APT score converted to a 30-point scale.
For example, a candidate with an HSA score of 90 and a Mathematics and Data Processing score of 30 would have a math score calculated as follows:
Po = 30*90/150 = 18.
Math Score = 10*30/50*23.24/18 = 7.75.

This year, the Military Technical Academy is admitting 360 students into its military program and 600 into its civilian program. The four admission methods include: direct admission and priority admission as regulated by the Ministry of Education and Training; admission based on high school academic excellence, international certificates such as SAT, ACT, IELTS, TOEFL iBT; admission based on the assessment scores of the two national universities; and admission based on high school graduation exam scores.
The subject combinations for admission are A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry), A01 (Math, Physics, English), and A0T (Math, Physics, Computer Science), the same as for the military program.
The minimum admission score for the Military Technical Academy's military program is 18 for males and 20 for females.
For the civilian program, apart from the two semiconductor-related programs, all other programs require a minimum score of 18. These include Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Cyberspace Security, Electronics and Telecommunications, Automation, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Manufacturing Technology, and Civil and Industrial Construction.
The tuition fee for the civilian program at the Military Technical Academy is expected to be 1.85 million VND per month this year.
In addition to the Military Technical Academy, several other universities, such as the Hanoi National University of Science, the Vietnam Japan University (VJU), and the Cryptography Academy, have also lowered admission scores for semiconductor-related programs.
