More specialized Tuyen Quang students admitted to medical and law schools

Nearly 90 students from Tuyen Quang specialized high school have been admitted to 9 universities, spanning fields from medicine and pharmacy, and education to technology, engineering, law, and journalism.

On the afternoon of 24/9, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, announced that out of 48 students from Tuyen Quang specialized high school who applied, four were admitted. These four students gained admission to various majors: tourism and travel service management, psychology, public relations, and journalism. All were admitted based on their scores from the re-examination of the national high school graduation exam, with admission cut-off scores ranging from 22 to 25.

In the social sciences, Hanoi Law University admitted 9 students. One student gained direct admission due to a national award in literature, 6 were admitted based on academic transcripts, and two used their graduation exam scores.

For medicine and pharmacy, in addition to 6 students admitted to Hanoi Medical University, four others secured places in the pharmacy program at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. These students used IELTS certificates or scores from the HSA competency assessment exam for admission.

The University of Transport and Communications also reported that two students were admitted using scores from the TSA thinking assessment exam, organized by Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

The list of universities that admitted students from Tuyen Quang specialized high school, as of the evening of 24/8, is as follows:

The national high school graduation exam took place on 11-12/6. Irregularities at Tuyen Quang specialized high school were discovered when 299 out of 328 students scored 9 points or higher in mathematics. Due to the involvement of many individuals and the difficulty in specifying the exact violations, the Ministry of Education and Training required this group to retake the exam on 14-15/8.

The results of the second exam showed a decrease in all subjects, averaging from 0,2 to 3,76 points. When considering subject combinations, no student achieved over 27 points, a significant drop from the 94 students who did so in the first exam. The number of students scoring 24 points or higher fell from 222 to 11.

Despite this, the national high school graduation exam scores represent only one of several university admission methods. Students can gain admission through national or international awards; by using results from competency or thinking assessment exams; through a combination of academic transcripts and international certificates; or solely by academic transcripts.
