Open University Ho Chi Minh City lowers admission scores

Open University Ho Chi Minh City (OU) has set two minimum admission scores, 15 and 16, with some programs dropping by as many as 6 points compared to last year.

OU stated that the minimum and benchmark scores based on the Ho Chi Minh City National University competency assessment and V-SAT will be converted to equivalent high school graduation exam scores according to a specific formula.

This year, OU is offering 5,500 spots, an increase of 200 compared to last year. Admission methods include direct admission and priority admission as regulated by the Ministry of Education and Training, admission based on the university's own plan, high school graduation exam scores, Ho Chi Minh City National University competency assessment scores, and V-SAT university entrance exam scores.

For the 2025 enrollment, tuition for standard programs ranges from 24 to 28.5 million VND per year, with the highest fees for technology and engineering programs. The lowest fees are for social sciences and humanities programs. High-quality programs mostly charge 46.5 million VND.

Last year, the benchmark scores based on high school graduation exam results ranged from 16 to 24.75, with the highest for law and economic law programs.

Currently, prospective students can register and adjust their university application choices an unlimited number of times until 5 PM on 28/7. Afterward, they can pay the application fee online from 29/7 to 5 PM on 5/8.

Students can visit VnExpress's university search page to see the fluctuations in benchmark scores over the years by program and university. The system also suggests programs and universities that had benchmark scores close to what students achieved in each subject combination last year.

University benchmark scores will be announced before 5 PM on 22/8.
