Finland Metropolia Vietnam is a joint program between FPT University (FPTU), FPT Group, and Metropolia University of Applied Sciences (Finland). The program is developed based on the philosophy of a "new generation applied university," where learning activities are integrated with business projects from the first year.
For the academic year 2026-2027, the program is enrolling students in two majors: smart information technology and international business (with a focus on logistics & marketing). Graduates receive a degree awarded by Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, one of Finland's largest universities of applied sciences.
According to a representative from Finland Metropolia Vietnam, the growth of cross-border e-commerce, artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and sustainable development requirements are transforming human resource needs in the logistics sector. Therefore, the program aims to train a generation of logistics experts equipped with four core competencies.
Digital competency is a fundamental requirement, encompassing the ability to use technology platforms, management systems, and automation tools. Data analysis skills help businesses make decisions based on real-time data to optimize costs and operational efficiency. Concurrently, employees need to develop a systemic mindset linked to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) to meet environmental and sustainable development requirements in the supply chain.
Additionally, international competency, which includes foreign language proficiency, a multicultural mindset, and the ability to work in a global environment, is a prerequisite for joining multinational corporations.
Finland Metropolia Vietnam designed its program to equip students with these four core skills, as differences in competencies directly influence income.
"Fresh graduates typically earn 10-20 million VND per month. In contrast, professionals with data analysis capabilities, operational optimization skills, and supply chain management expertise can achieve incomes of 30-50 million VND per month or higher," the representative explained.
Associate Professor, Doctor Pham Thi Lien, Training Director of Finland Metropolia Vietnam, emphasized that specialized knowledge alone is only a necessary condition.
"Technology, data, systemic thinking, and the ability to solve real-world problems are the factors that create a competitive advantage in the labor market," she affirmed.

According to her, many students, despite a strong grasp of theory, struggle when addressing problems such as supply chain optimization, demand forecasting, or multi-point operational coordination. This is because real-world logistics operates on continuously fluctuating data systems and multiple layers of connections, rather than static models found in textbooks.
Therefore, Finland Metropolia Vietnam students have the opportunity to engage with practical problems during their studies. The training content includes optimizing delivery routes for cross-border e-commerce, analyzing inventory data and forecasting market demand, designing green logistics solutions to meet ESG criteria, building operational processes for multi-point supply chains, and applying AI and automation in logistics management.
Moreover, with its applied university model, students begin building their professional portfolios from their first year through business projects, international teamwork activities, and application-oriented modules.
"Students should not wait until graduation to prepare for the labor market. Every project with a business and every internship is an opportunity for learners to accumulate professional competencies and practical experience," Associate Professor, Doctor Pham Thi Lien added.
Finland Metropolia Vietnam students also benefit from learning in an entirely English-speaking environment and have the opportunity to transfer to Finland. This allows learners to become familiar with international work standards and expand career opportunities at multinational corporations, European businesses, and global supply chains.

Upon graduation, students can undertake various roles such as supply chain data analyst, global e-commerce logistics specialist, green logistics and ESG consultant, or international supply chain planner.
According to Associate Professor, Doctor Pham Thi Lien, logistics companies are also changing their recruitment methods. While work experience was once a crucial criterion, many companies now prioritize candidates who can operate technology systems, process data, and solve practical problems within the supply chain.
"In modern logistics, companies do not lack people who know processes. What they need are personnel who can apply technology and data to optimize costs, speed, and operational efficiency," Associate Professor, Doctor Pham Thi Lien noted.
Vietnam's logistics sector currently maintains an annual growth rate of approximately 14-16%. However, according to the Vietnam Logistics Report 2024, the quality of human resources remains a major bottleneck amidst digital transformation and increasing demands for green logistics development.
Evaluating the "bottleneck-breaking" training model from Finland Metropolia Vietnam, Mr. Tran Trung Chau, Director of Banca Academy (FWD Insurance), stated that the program offers an effective approach to bridging the gap between theory and practice. According to him, this helps students integrate faster after graduation and adapt well to the work environment.
