Sai Gon University sets Vietnam's highest admission scores

Sai Gon University's (SGU) history and geography education program has set the highest minimum admission score in Vietnam at 25, a 6-point increase from last year.

On the afternoon of 23/7, SGU announced its minimum entry requirements and score conversion formula. Most programs saw their minimum scores increase by 0.5 to 6 points.

For teacher training programs, the university is accepting applications from candidates with scores between 18 and 25. Math, history-geography, music, and fine arts education programs maintained last year's minimum score range of 18-24.5.

All other education programs saw increases of 1 to 6 points. The history and geography education program experienced the most significant jump, from 19 to 25, leading the university and the entire country. Chemistry, biology, physics, and literature education programs increased by 4 to 5 points.

The remaining programs at SGU have minimum scores between 17 and 22, an increase of 1 to 2.5 points compared to last year. Some economics-related programs, such as finance-banking, international business, and business administration, decreased from 19.5 to 18.5.

This year, SGU plans to enroll 5,220 students and introduce three new programs: history, geography, and microchip design. The university applies direct admission according to Ministry of Education and Training regulations; high school graduation exam scores; Ho Chi Minh City National University competency assessment test scores; and V-SAT results.

Tuition fees for the 2025 academic year are expected to be between 78 and 193 million VND for the entire course (4-4.5 years).

Last year, the university's standard admission scores ranged from 21.17 to 28.25 based on high school graduation exam results, with the history education program having the highest.

Currently, candidates can register, adjust, and supplement their university application choices an unlimited number of times until 5 PM on 28/7. Afterward, they can submit application fees online from 29/7 to 5 PM on 5/8.

Candidates can visit VnExpress's University Lookup page to see the fluctuation of standard admission scores over the years by program and university. The system also suggests programs and universities that had standard scores close to the candidates' scores in each subject combination last year.

University admission scores will be announced before 5 PM on 22/8.
