This year, the University of Science High School for Gifted Students (part of the University of Science, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) received nearly 4,000 applications for the 10th-grade entrance exam, an increase of nearly 1,000 compared to last year.
Candidates must take four subjects: math (Round 1), literature, English, and a specialized subject. English is a new addition to the exam. The admission criteria require students to achieve a score of 4/10 or higher in each subject. The total admission score is calculated by summing the math (Round 1) score and the specialized subject score, with the latter multiplied by two. Results will be announced before 16/6.
Last year, using the same calculation method, the cut-off scores for specialized math and computer science classes were the highest, both at 19,5. The remaining three specialized classes—physics, chemistry, and biology—all had a cut-off of 17.
