Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) announced on 10/9 that three students achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA upon graduation. They are Le Nguyen Ngoc Vu from Mechatronics, Truong Ngoc Hai from Computer Engineering, and Luu Cong Toan from Control and Automation Engineering. Their conduct scores were also exceptionally high, ranging from 95 to 99 out of 100.
This marks a historic milestone for HUST. Since the university transitioned to a credit-based system and a 4.0 GPA scale in 2007, this is the first time three students have graduated in the same cohort with perfect academic records. Vu, Hai, and Toan are also the first to achieve this distinction in their respective majors.
To achieve a 4.0 GPA, students must score 8.5 points or higher on a 10-point scale in all subjects. Previously, HUST had three other students reach this level: two graduated in 2024 from Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering; one graduated last year from the Vietnamese-French Information Technology program.
In addition to Vu, Hai, and Toan, HUST will honor 5 other valedictorians from various majors during the graduation ceremony scheduled for late September, specifically:
