Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics professors to earn up to 120 million dong monthly

Monthly salaries for full-time professors and associate professors at Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics will range from 52-120 million dong, an increase of 20 million dong.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) announced a new income policy on the afternoon of 24/3, aiming to retain its high-level faculty.

Under the new policy, monthly salaries for full-time professors and associate professors will increase by 20 million dong, while contract faculty will see a 10 million dong rise. The total fixed monthly income for these groups will range from 52-120 million dong. This figure excludes additional earnings from exceeding teaching quotas, other training and research activities, and Tet bonuses.

This marks the first time UEH has publicly disclosed faculty income figures.

New faculty members will receive support packages: 500 million dong for professors, 300 million dong for associate professors, and 150 million dong for those with doctorates. This support may be adjusted based on their years of service until retirement or the type of contract. Faculty working at the Vinh Long or Nha Trang campuses may receive higher support.

Existing faculty who complete their doctoral programs and are subsequently appointed as associate professors or professors will receive bonuses of 50 million dong, 100 million dong, and 150 million dong, respectively.

Associate Professor Dr. Bui Quang Hung, Acting Deputy Director of UEH, stated that the new policy reflects a strong commitment to investing in its people, recognizing them as the core intellectual assets crucial to the university's reputation in training and research.

He emphasized that an outstanding team of faculty and researchers is fundamental to enhancing UEH's competitiveness and elevating its international standing, especially as the university targets a spot in the top 250 Asian universities by 2030.

According to the QS Asia University Rankings 2026, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics currently ranks 318th.

UEH is one of the 13 national universities in Vietnam. It stands as a leading institution in the South and across the country for business, management, and law programs, serving approximately 40,000 students.

Faculty income is rarely disclosed by universities. Recently, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology also announced faculty salaries for the first time in a recruitment notice, indicating a range of 35-85 million dong per month. In the North, Hanoi University of Science and Technology's latest recruitment advertisement mentioned preferential monthly salaries of 40-150 million dong for "excellent lecturers" holding doctorates from top 200 global universities.
