Hanoi has four specialized high schools under the Department of Education and Training: Hanoi - Amsterdam, Nguyen Hue, Chu Van An, and Son Tay. These four schools admit students with permanent residence or temporary residence registration in Hanoi.
Additionally, the capital also has four other specialized schools, affiliated with universities: Specialized Pedagogy (Hanoi National University of Education), Specialized Natural Sciences, Specialized Social Sciences and Humanities, and Specialized Foreign Languages (Vietnam National University, Hanoi). This group recruits students nationwide, but the majority of test-takers are still from Hanoi.
Among these, the two earliest schools with overlapping schedules are Specialized Natural Sciences and Specialized Social Sciences and Humanities, with exams on 23-24/5. For the Humanities school, this date is almost unchanged from last year, while Natural Sciences moved its exams 10 days earlier.
Subsequently, the 10th grade exams for the four specialized schools under the Department will take place over three days, from 30/5 to 1/6. From 4 to 7/6 are the exam dates for Specialized Pedagogy and Specialized Foreign Languages schools.

According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, all 8 schools organize 10th grade entrance exams with four subjects, including Literature, Mathematics, and English as prerequisite subjects (also known as common subjects), along with a specialized subject.
However, the admission score calculation methods vary by school. For example, at Specialized Natural Sciences school, Literature and English scores are merely prerequisites, while the admission score comprises general Mathematics and the specialized subject. As for Specialized Pedagogy school, the admission combination depends on the specialized class.
See the 10th grade admission score calculation methods for the 8 specialized schools.
This year, many schools have increased their quotas. For instance, Specialized Pedagogy increased its quota by 70 slots, Specialized Natural Sciences by 20, and Specialized Social Sciences and Humanities by 10. The specialized schools under the Department have not yet announced their quotas.
The 10th grade exam scores for specialized schools will likely be announced in June.
