The University of Science, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), announced its projected admissions information on the morning of 14/2. For 2026, HCMUS plans to admit over 5,000 students across 39 majors and programs, an increase of nearly 500 students compared to last year.
HCMUS will employ two main admission methods for the 2026 intake. These include direct admission as regulated by the Ministry of Education and Training, admission for international students (for advanced and English-enhanced programs), and combined admission.
For the combined admission method, applicants can use their high school academic transcripts along with either their high school graduation exam scores or results from the competency assessment organized by Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.
All scores will be converted to a 30-point scale before applying the combined admission score calculation formula. For international foreign language certificates, the university will only convert them to an English test score.
The university will award bonus points to excellent students who have won awards in national (VOAI) and international Artificial Intelligence Olympiad competitions, as well as in subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, and English. Students winning awards in Geography will receive bonus points for specific majors: Oceanography, Geology, Land Economics, Geological Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering Technology, and Environmental Resource Management. Specific bonus point levels will be announced later.
Tuition fees for the 2026 intake at the University of Science, Ho Chi Minh City, are projected to range from 32.6-70 million VND, with the advanced computer science program having the highest fee.
Last year, the university's benchmark scores ranged from 17-19.92, with the advanced computer science program also leading in admissions.
