The APMO, first held in 1989, aims to identify and nurture young mathematical talents while fostering cooperation among regional nations. Vietnam's participation this year marks its return after a 24-year absence, having last competed in 2002. From 2026-2028, Vietnam will serve as the main coordinator for the competition.
The exam consisted of 5 questions, each worth 7 points, to be completed in 4 hours. After the exam, students' papers and initial results were sent to the international organizing committee for evaluation. Official medal and international ranking results are announced after the completion of grading and score coordination among participating countries.
