The Ministry of Education and Training announced on the morning of 20/5 that the two gold medals were awarded to Nguyen Huu Tuan and Nguyen Bui Duc Dung, both 12th-grade students from the High School for Gifted Students, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
The 4 students who won silver medals include Nguyen Khanh Phuc (10th grade, Luong Van Tuy High School for the Gifted, Ninh Binh), Thai Van Gia Kien (12th grade, Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted), Dang Huy Hau (11th grade, Thang Long High School for the Gifted, Lam Dong), and Le Pham Duy Khoa (11th grade, High School for Gifted Students).
With these results, the Vietnamese delegation ranked second, tying with Japan and trailing only the Russian delegation, an increase of three ranks compared to last year.
The Ministry assessed that this achievement helps Vietnam maintain its leading position in Southeast Asia, despite this year's competition being "novel and challenging". The results also demonstrate that Vietnamese students possess talent and computer science aptitude among the region's top performers.

The 20th Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad took place from 9 to 10/5 in Taiwan (Trung Quoc). Over 1,000 contestants from 37 delegations competed, with 16 winning gold medals, 47 silver, and 93 bronze.
To compete internationally, 16 Vietnamese contestants underwent a selection round by the Ministry of Education and Training, after being among the top 40-50 highest scorers in the national gifted student competition.
However, according to APIO regulations, each team can only select 6 contestants with the highest scores for award consideration. From these, the Ministry further selected 4 students for the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) team.
