The film marks Van Son's second appearance in a movie, following "Vat doi sao doi", released in 2001, also directed by Charlie Nguyen. In "Dai tiec trang mau 8", he portrays a filmmaker aspiring to create a masterpiece. However, in one scene, his on-screen daughter, played by Lam Thanh My, cries and expresses shame for "having a father who makes trash films."
Van Son stated his happiness at being invited to act at 65, and he made an effort to complete difficult scenes on set. The artist shared, "I do not wish for the film to set record revenue; it would be enough happiness if the audience simply nods and smiles after watching it."

Born Duong Thanh Son, Van Son began his career in 1977 when he joined the Huong mien Nam singing and dancing troupe. A few years later, he pursued a solo career, becoming a stand-up comedian. He later joined comedian Bao Quoc's group, replacing Duy Phuong, and performed at venues in Saigon.
In the 1990s, after moving to the United States, he and Bao Liem became popular comedians among the Vietnamese community in California. He dubbed films by Stephen Chow and various TVB series. Subsequently, he established an entertainment center, collaborating with artist Hoai Linh, and achieved popularity with numerous skits on overseas stages. In the 2000s, Van Son returned to Vietnam to perform comedy, participate in game shows, and serve as a judge for programs like "Nguoi bi an" and "Nguoi hat tinh ca". In late 2015, Van Son founded the V Show theater in Ho Chi Minh City (TP HCM), which had a capacity of approximately 400-500 audience members, but ceased operations some time later.

Besides Van Son, the film features a multi-generational cast. Hong Anh and Hua Vi Van, who previously starred together in "Tiec trang mau" in 2020, return for this new project. Artist Duc Khue acts for the first time alongside younger talents such as Miu Le, Lien Binh Phat, and Quynh Ly.
Directed by Phan Gia Nhat Linh, the script follows the motif of "Tiec trang mau", bringing together various character arcs. In this film, characters publicly share phone messages and calls; however, the game is upgraded to a survival battle, with a warning that the loser will lose their life. The work blends multiple genres, including family psychology, horror-comedy, and is scheduled for release on 30/4.
