According to Next Apple, Barbie Hsu's family held a memorial ceremony for her at a cemetery park in Taipei, Taiwan, on 2/2. DJ Koo, Hsu's mother, Huang Xuan Mai, and her sister jointly unveiled the sculpture. The figure depicts Hsu with hands clasped in front of her chest, wearing a classic dress with a flowing skirt. The sculpture is placed in an area dedicated to artworks related to celebrities.
Over the past year, DJ Koo reviewed videos of his late wife to sculpt the statue. A friend of the artist stated that in his heart, Hsu always remained youthful and vibrant. The singer reportedly avoided social interaction, immersing himself solely in creating art related to his beloved.
Some close friends of DJ Koo and Hsu attended the ceremony, including Kang Won Rae, a member of the music group Clon alongside DJ Koo. Kang Won Rae uses a wheelchair due to a traffic accident more than 10 years ago.
The actress passed away suddenly on 2/2/2025 while traveling in Japan with her mother, sister, husband, and children. She left behind an estate exceeding one billion New Taiwan dollars (over 30 million USD). According to Next Apple, she and DJ Koo did not sign a prenuptial agreement. The singer announced he would relinquish all his inheritance rights to Huang Xuan Mai, Barbie Hsu's mother. Currently, Hsu's children with her ex-husband, Wang Xiaofei, live with their father and stepmother.

The love story of DJ Koo and Barbie Hsu has been described by many audiences as more dramatic and intricate than a movie. They fell in love in the 1990s but broke up due to interference from the singer's management company. According to Vogue, in 2021, upon hearing that Hsu had divorced Wang Xiaofei, DJ Koo called the actress using the number he had saved 20 years prior, delighted that she still used the same phone number. The two rekindled their romance and completed marriage registration procedures in early 2022, amidst the pandemic.
