Backstreet Boys’ space-themed stage wows fans

Backstreet Boys transform their "Into the Millennium" tour into a cosmic journey, captivating tens of thousands of fans with a space-simulated setting.

Backstreet Boys have returned with their "Into the Millennium" concert series at The Sphere in Las Vegas, commemorating the 26th anniversary of their 1999 album, Millenium, Billboard reports. The band enjoyed a successful opening week with three shows from July 11 to 13, attracting over 20,000 fans each night. With a futuristic spaceship theme, both the audience and the artists were immersed in a science fiction world thanks to a massive LED screen encompassing the stage and surrounding all the seats.

Billboard highlighted two key moments of the concert: the projection of the five members' faces onto a mountainside during their performance of "Siberia" (2005), and their ascent into the air while singing their hit "I Want It That Way" (1999). Writer Tetrix Kelly commented, "It was a perfect blend of spectacle and heart".

Speaking to Billboard on July 10, representatives of the production team and stage director said the concert draws inspiration from the Millennium era, particularly the futuristic style of the band's 1999 music video for "Larger Than Life". According to them, fans can revisit "the band's entire career, blending new elements with nostalgia and familiarity".

On X in recent days, many people have reposted memorable moments from the concert. Most comments praised the show's grandeur and how it brought back childhood memories. One account wrote, "Congratulations to the members for still performing together 26 years after the release of their breakthrough album, Millenium".

Throughout the concerts, the audience danced to "The Call" (2000) and sang along to "Shape of My Heart" (2000). The band closed the show with "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" (1996). Despite being an event commemorating their older music, Backstreet Boys also performed newer releases like "Hey".

Formed in 1993, Backstreet Boys comprises five members: AJ McLean, Howie D., Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, and Brian Littrell. A prominent boy band of the 1990s, they have released 10 albums over their 32-year career, selling over 130 million records worldwide. Some of their most famous songs include "I Need You Tonight", "Back To Your Heart", and "I Want It That Way".
