Bao Ngoc aims to be the first Vietnamese Miss World winner

Miss Bao Ngoc says her goal of winning Miss World is not about overconfidence, but about daily motivation.

On 8/8, the organization holding the Vietnamese license for Miss World announced Bao Ngoc as Vietnam's representative for the 73rd edition of the competition. Ngoc discussed her chances and how she plans to capture the crown at one of the world’s oldest international beauty pageants.

Having missed the opportunity to compete in Miss World in 2022, Ngoc shared her feelings about finally being able to compete three years after her initial nomination. "I've always believed in the values and message of 'Beauty With A Purpose'," she stated. "For me, Miss World is a platform for women to showcase their ideals and community engagement through their work and projects."

Ngoc expressed gratitude for the opportunity, calling it a dream come true. She also acknowledged the support from fans, describing it as her biggest motivation. "I'm at a stage in my life where I have many aspirations," she explained. "I want to bring to the competition the values I pursue: knowledge, social contributions, and sustainable development. I also want the world to see Vietnam, its compassionate people, and the warmth of our interactions."

Following her win at Miss Intercontinental 2022, Ngoc aims high for this competition. "My goal is to win and make Vietnamese beauty pageant fans proud," she said. "I understand that winning the world’s largest beauty pageant is challenging, but I set high goals to motivate myself." She emphasizes that her focus won't solely be on the result. Instead, she wants to express herself, celebrate humanitarian values, and inspire others.

Ngoc admits to feeling apprehensive about returning to the competition after three years, but views the preparation period as a time of self-discovery. "I'm striving for composure and patience," she shared, "It's how I cultivate resilience, helping me stay grounded on any stage, regardless of praise or criticism." She also acknowledges the unpredictable nature of pageants, noting that sometimes even the most qualified contestants don't win.

Reflecting on past Miss World contestants from Vietnam, including Do My Linh (top 40), Luong Thuy Linh (top 12), and Do Thi Ha (top 13), Ngoc sees valuable lessons to be learned. "My role is to continue and build upon their work," she stated. She plans to speak with them directly, learn from their experiences, and adapt their advice to her own journey.

Observing Y Nhi, Miss World Vietnam 2022, Ngoc admired her dedication, investment, and willingness to step outside her comfort zone. "Y Nhi's strength helped her gain positive recognition, which I admire," Ngoc said. "Her story reminds me to stay diligent and focused every step of the way."

Bao Ngoc's journey in the entertainment industry.

Ngoc plans to bring her commitment to action to the Miss World stage. As a founding member of Gen Zero - Youth for Sustainable Development, she is passionate about environmental and climate protection. "Over the past year, my greatest joy has been witnessing young people unite and spread the message of action for a greener planet," she shared. Ngoc highlighted Gen Zero's 20+ programs, which have attracted thousands of participants and sparked millions of discussions about climate change in Vietnam and globally. The organization also supports the Vietnamese government's delegation at international conferences like COP29 and COP30 in the Asia-Pacific region.

She is currently selecting a specific project to present at the competition, focusing on themes of climate, youth, children, and the world.

After three years in the entertainment industry, Ngoc feels a sense of growth and maturity, largely attributed to her diverse work experiences. Modeling has boosted her confidence, while her role as CEO of Miss World Vietnam has honed her leadership skills. Ngoc views personal growth as a continuous process, citing her nomination for Outstanding Young Vietnamese Face and the National Volunteer Award from the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee as milestones. "Every new endeavor reveals more areas for learning and improvement," she reflected.

Currently, Ngoc is focusing on physical training, refining her catwalk skills and poise, improving her English, and learning another language. She believes Miss World values inner beauty and compassion, qualities she cultivates consistently. "I'm also working on strengthening my critical thinking skills," she added. "If I reach the final rounds, I want the audience to hear a Vietnamese woman with authentic stories, experiences, and concrete actions."
