Blackpink explodes back onto the scene with comeback concert

Nearly 40,000 fans cheered on Blackpink at the opening concert of their "Deadline" world tour, marking the group's reunion after almost three years.

According to Yonhap News, the concert began at 8 p.m. on 5/7 (local time, 6 p.m. Hanoi time). However, six hours prior, a sea of people flocked to Goyang Stadium (Gyeonggi-do province), a venue that opened in 2003 with a capacity of 41,311. Reporter Seo Hyung Seok described the atmosphere of Blackpink's 4th tour as a huge celebration, with fans excitedly showing off their lightsticks and colorful outfits, mostly pink, the color synonymous with the group.

Over three hours, the group performed 25 songs, captivating tens of thousands of fans who sang along. The setlist included billion- and hundred-million-view hits on YouTube, such as: "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" (2.3 billion views), "Kill This Love" (2.1 billion), "Boombayah" (1.7 billion), "As If It's Your Last" (1.4 billion), "How You Like That" (1.3 billion), "Pink Venom" (985 million), "Playing with Fire" (924 million), and "Shut Down" (740 million). The four girls also debuted their new song "Jump," captivating the audience with its catchy melody and fun choreography, according to Star News. Jennie announced that "Jump" will be released next week.

Besides group performances, the girls also stormed the stage with their solo acts. Lisa performed seven songs: "Stay," "Don't Know What To Do," "New Woman," "Whistle," "Rockstar," "Pretty Savage," and "Lovesick Girls." The audience danced and shouted Jisoo's name as she sang "Earthquake" and "Your Love." Similarly, the stadium erupted when Rose performed "3am" and "Toxic Till the End," and invited a fan onstage during her 1.7 billion-view hit "APT." Jennie stirred the crowd with "Mantra" and "With the IE."

According to Yonhap News, a drone show closed the group's performance, with thousands of drones forming symbols associated with previous albums and an hourglass representing their upcoming album.

Korean media continuously reported on the "Deadline" concert, estimating 40,000 attendees at Goyang Stadium. "The hot weather couldn't beat the fans' passion. Tickets for the two nights of 5/7 and 6/7 sold out immediately upon release," reporter Seo Hyung Seok said in Yonhap News' evening broadcast. Meanwhile, Star News highlighted the message "The return of the legendary girl group," explaining the concert's buzz as fans had long awaited the girls' reunion.

Famous TV star and MC Park Myung Soo attracted a large number of comments when he posted a selfie with the girls' stage on his personal page with the caption: "I went to Blackpink's concert. I'm so proud of you. Jisoo invited me. Jisoo, fighting! Thank you."

On online forums, many fans said they cried when they saw the four members huddled in a circle, hugging and jumping together. At some moments, Lisa kissed Rose on the cheek, and Jennie leaned on Jisoo's shoulder.

Audience members Kim Jun So and Ahn Seong Mun (Yecheon district, North Gyeongsang, South Korea) promised each other they "must go" when the group announced the concert in July. However, the two girls struggled and even spent a lot of money to buy scalped tickets.

After South Korea, the group will tour for 29 nights across 16 cities worldwide, including Los Angeles, New York (USA), Paris (France), Milan (Italy), London (England), Bangkok (Thailand), Singapore, and Tokyo (Japan). The tour is expected to conclude at Kai Tak Stadium (Hong Kong) on 25/1/2026.

Blackpink debuted in August 2016 and is considered YG Entertainment's "golden goose." All four members have built global influence in music and fashion. After nearly 10 years of activity, despite releasing only two albums, the group has taken the music world by storm with numerous hits. Their YouTube channel has the highest viewership with 30 billion views.

In 2023, the four members held their first concert in Vietnam. Hanoi was their final stop in Asia as part of their world tour. The two nights, 29/7 and 30/7, attracted over 60,000 spectators.
