According to Deadline, McMahon's wife, Kelly Paniagua, confirmed his passing on 2/7. She stated that he died peacefully after bravely fighting cancer but did not disclose further details.
"It is with a heavy heart that I share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, passed away peacefully this week after a valiant battle with cancer," Paniagua said. "Julian loved life, his family, and his friends. He cherished his work and his fans. His greatest wish was to bring joy to others. During this time, we ask for privacy as we grieve and say our final goodbyes. To those whose lives were touched by Julian’s joy, we encourage you to continue to find joy in life. Born in 1968, McMahon was the son of former Australian Prime Minister William McMahon. He began his career as a model before transitioning to acting in Australian television series in the late 1980s. He gained international recognition for his role as Cole Turner, the half-human, half-demon husband of Phoebe Halliwell (Alyssa Milano), in the popular series "Charmed".
McMahon's career continued to flourish with his portrayal of the villainous Dr. Doom in two "Fantastic Four" films (2005, 2007). In 2005, he received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in the series "Nip/Tuck". His most recent project was "The Residence", which premiered on Netflix in March but was canceled after one season. McMahon's last red-carpet appearance was at the SXSW Film and Television Festival on 10/3, promoting the film "The Surfer" alongside co-star Nicolas Cage.
Prior to marrying Paniagua in 2014, McMahon was married twice: first to Australian singer Dannii Minogue and then to "Baywatch" actress Brooke Burns. He and Burns share a daughter, Madison Elizabeth McMahon, now 25. McMahon and Paniagua did not have children together.
