The issue began on 29/3 when an Instagram user left a message on Gigi Hadid's post, stating they would unfollow the supermodel's personal page due to her silence on being mentioned in the files. A day later, Gigi responded, explaining she had not spoken out because the documents "made her nauseous."
According to ENews, the Instagram account referenced an email exchange between businessman Jeffrey Epstein and an unnamed individual concerning the Hadid sisters in late 2015. These emails were recently released by the US Department of Justice (DOJ). In the exchange, the anonymous individual asked the billionaire how Gigi and Bella became famous and why they earned so much money. The person initially speculated that their father, real estate businessman Mohamed Hadid, paid modeling agencies to sign them, but Epstein denied this. He further responded, "Because they did what they were told, it's that simple."

In her response, Gigi Hadid stated she found it "creepy" to read such remarks from someone she had never met. She called Jeffrey Epstein a monster, believing he tried to take credit for others' achievements to manipulate his victims. In this context, Gigi clarified that the group of victims included those who emailed Epstein asking about her career, and those who never received the jobs he promised to help them with.
"Previously, I didn't speak out because I didn't want to overshadow the stories of Jeffrey Epstein's real victims. But your comment made me realize this issue hasn't been clarified, and people need to understand," she wrote.
The model also acknowledged growing up in a privileged family but emphasized that her parents protected her and taught her the value of hard work. Gigi recounted that before the two sisters turned 18, they submitted applications to many modeling agencies and met with representatives in New York alongside their mother, former supermodel Yolanda Hadid. This included Marilyn and Ford, two agencies her mother had worked for when she was young. She met with about 10 companies, but only a few offered contracts. In 2012, she joined IMG, continuing her efforts to this day.
When Gigi Hadid's name appeared in the email series, the supermodel was only about 20 or 21 years old. Therefore, she found the situation "disturbing." At the end of her statement, she wrote, "I want to unequivocally state that I never had any connection with that despicable individual." The 31-year-old model has since deleted her comment.

Gigi Hadid, born in 1995, is a 1,78 m tall American supermodel of Palestinian descent. At two years old, she began modeling for fashion brands. In 2016, the British Fashion Council (BFC) awarded her the title of International Model of the Year at the London Fashion Festival. She is currently dating actor Bradley Cooper.
She is among the latest artists to speak out about the scandal involving financier Jeffrey Epstein. In 7/2019, he was arrested on charges of enticing dozens of underage individuals, turning them into victims of abuse and sex trafficking. While awaiting trial, Epstein died by suicide after several weeks of detention at a Manhattan jail in New York, at the age of 66.

Starting in 2025, the US Department of Justice began releasing the Epstein files, causing a stir with the appearance of many powerful and famous figures. In the entertainment industry, names like Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Chris Tucker, and Mick Jagger were mentioned. Some photos showed celebrities with him, though the context remains unclear.
In late January, the DOJ released over three million pages of documents, photos, and videos related to the investigations. In February, authorities disclosed a list of 300 politicians, business leaders, and public figures appearing in the files. Cultural icons such as Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Kurt Cobain, and Princess Diana were also named. However, the files only list names and do not specify the extent of these individuals' involvement with the billionaire.
