Haaland and teammates return with luxury bags after World Cup exit

Haaland and his teammates arrived at a Norway airport with Dolce & Gabbana and Louis Vuitton bags after the team's World Cup elimination.

On 13/7, star striker Erling Haaland and his Norway national team teammates returned to Oslo, Norway, after their elimination from the World Cup quarterfinals by England. Haaland was seen at Oslo airport carrying several new items, notably a Dolce & Gabbana tote bag. The cream canvas bag, featuring red alligator leather accents, debuted on the Milan, Italy, runway months earlier.

Beyond the luxury fashion, Haaland caught attention for a more whimsical accessory: a plush raccoon. This souvenir, along with a hat, shoes, and a t-shirt emblazoned with "Y’all Can Kiss My Dallas", was purchased at Wild Bill’s Western in Dallas, Texas. Images of Haaland with his unique purchases quickly went viral on the Norway national team's Instagram. American fans expressed delight, commenting, "He must really like the souvenir from Texas". Many supporters also thanked Haaland for his dedication during the World Cup and for bringing joy with his often-humorous expressions. Photo: AP

Haaland emerged as one of the World Cup's most popular players, captivating fans globally with his expressions. Social media users transformed his images into memes, often comparing him to the cat from Tom and Jerry. A widely shared video showed Haaland sprinting across the field, leaning forward, while his signature long blonde hair, tied in a half-ponytail, also became a popular talking point.

Erling Haaland, 26, born in Leeds, England, plays as a striker for Manchester City Football Club and the Norway national team. He is considered one of the world's best strikers, boasting achievements such as: the all-time top scorer in Norway national team history, UEFA Player of the Year 2023, and holder of the Premier League single-season scoring record. During this World Cup, he shone with his speed and precise finishing.

Antonio Nusa carried a Louis Vuitton Speedy P9 bag. This unisex bag line is popular among international celebrities. He is 21, one of the team's bright young stars.

Captain Martin Ødegaard used a hand-woven leather bag from Bottega Veneta. He is 28, and a prolific assist-maker.

Defender Julian Ryerson used a DB suitcase, a famous Norwegian luxury luggage brand, and carried a Louis Vuitton travel bag.

Midfielder Andreas Schjelderup carried a large, turquoise Louis Vuitton bag. He is 22, and scored the opening goal in the quarter-final match against England.

Goalkeeper Orjan Nyland completed the classic look with a Louis Vuitton bag.

Despite their elimination, Norway achieved a successful tournament, reaching the quarterfinals for the first time. Representing a nation of approximately 5,5 million people, this marked Norway's first World Cup appearance in 28 years. Their journey included a victory over 5-time world champions Brazil.

The tournament now features four remaining teams, with two semi-final matches scheduled between France and Spain, and England and Argentina.
