Jimin's BTS World Cup shirt fetches 110,000 USD

Surpassing Lionel Messi's jersey, the shirt worn by Jimin of BTS during his World Cup performance sold for over 2.8 billion VND at auction.

The One Goal: An Auction to Benefit the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund concluded on July 29, exceeding expectations. Hosted by Christie's, the online auction attracted participants from 24 countries and generated 652,630 USD, more than eight times its initial estimate. Two items fetched the highest price of 110,000 USD each: the official match ball used in the 2026 World Cup final in New York New Jersey, where Spain defeated Argentina 1-0, and the performance shirt worn by Jimin of BTS.

Jimin wore the shirt during BTS's halftime performance at the match. Christie's noted that competition for the boy band's performance outfits consistently drew media and social media attention throughout the auction. Jimin's shirt sold for nearly 37 times its original estimated value of 3,000-5,000 USD.

Following the bidding, rumors circulated among fans that a Vietnamese woman acquired the item. This individual was also reportedly the successful bidder for RM's shoes, the leader of BTS, which sold for 19,800 USD. International media outlets have not yet confirmed this information.

Performance items from other BTS members also garnered significant interest from collectors. V's scarf and Jung Kook's jacket each sold for 46,200 USD. Suga's pants fetched 33,000 USD, while J-Hope's gloves sold for 28,600 USD. In total, seven BTS items generated 300,300 USD, accounting for about 46% of the auction's total revenue.

Beyond the BTS memorabilia, many items linked to international stars also achieved high prices. Lionel Messi's signed home jersey from the 2026 World Cup sold for 66,000 USD. Madonna's signed fingerless gloves, worn during her opening performance, fetched 41,800 USD.

Justin Bieber's shoes, worn during an acoustic performance of the song "Everything Hallelujah", sold for 26,400 USD. According to Hypebeast, the design belongs to SKYLRK's Matter Daddy line in a latte color and remains unreleased. His entire outfit and headphones were custom-made, not commercially available. These items were initially valued at 2,000-4,000 USD.

All proceeds from the auction will go to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. This program supports children in disadvantaged communities across more than 200 countries and territories, providing access to quality education and opportunities to play football. The initiative aims to raise 100 million USD.

Julien Pradels, President of Christie's, stated, "This is a great result for a meaningful cause. The competition in the auction was fierce and global, much like what fans witnessed on the World Cup pitch. Today, we can be proud to have contributed to supporting the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund and the children it targets."
